today shinyong spoke and he made me think about my life as a christian.. he told us a true story..
there is this girl in indonesia who lived in aceh. before the tsunami, she had a vision, one that frightened her. when she told her parents about it, they were so angry with her that they sent her away, out of aceh. and because of this, she was safe from the destructive forces of the tidal waves. in indonesia, being a christian means forgoing alot of benefits. it means having to change the information on your identification card. this means that the government would know of your faith, as in being christian. and even if you were an undergraduate completing your last year of university studies, it means that you have forgone the opportunity to graduate. in today's society where much emphasis is placed on paper qualifications and credentials, it means a greatly diminished chance of survival. it means that you get shunned from your family. it means you being left with nothing but your faith. absolutely nothing. it means no jobs. it really means losing EVERYTHING. and this girl was willing to do that. how about us? we as christians are living such comfortable lives here where religious tolerance allows us much liberty and equality. what are we doing, how are we living out our lives as testimonies to our Father, our Maker, our Lord, Saviour and best friend?times of dryness sometimes calls for us to reflect, to prepare, to be restored.that really got me thinking. and i shall act on it.
okay. i'm gonna be a good girl and try my very best to stay away from the internet for a long time. that means.. no blogging. no msn. no friendster. no anything.
SOB.
okay. i really REALLY need to mug. i'm like panicking alot now. a little late, but hey. better late than never.. right? haha.
lala.. okay. so i should be able to sneak in to reply tags.. but i think no posts from me for quite a while. oh wells.
my daddy just sang this song to me.. (:
Special YearsFrom pig tails to wedding veilsFrom pinafores to laceAnd in between are the special yearsTime never can replaceFrom play toys to college boysFrom little girl to wifeAnd in between are the special yearsYou'll remember all of your lifeThe special years are filled with sweet promises and painBut love will never taste quite so wonderful againSo slower, don't rush to grow upYou'll be a woman before longSo stay a while in the special years
Their magic will soon be goneJust stay a while in the special yearsTheir magic will soon be gonegee i love my daddy. (:
anyways, yesterday was fun spending time with xintian! as in.. although i like.. know her for barely a year? but we can click quite okay. and my parents like her too! hahahs.. i think. we watched phantom yesterday.. quite cool la. (: heehee. went for cell later. oh. and i accidentally suaned christopher yesterday.. like.. i really didn't mean it in the way it came out. it was really unintentional, but as stu said, "that's a blind shot that hit bulls-eye."
and so it went something like this..
I say:Who's going tomorrow for the church lunch? Chris are you going?Chris says:No i can't.. i got grading tomorrow. taekwondo. [i think he said taekwondo.. but it doesn't really matter does it? (:]Someone says:Ahh christopher.. what belt are you gonna get if you pass the test? a lace belt?Stuart says:hey jeanette, why did you only ask chris? why? you like him?I say:NOOOOO. please. i'm not les la!-chris takes a cushion and whacks me-and then i realise what i'd said. seriously.. i was thinking of the lace belt.. it really didn't occur to me that chris was a guy. err. ooops. i said it again. argh. whatever.
so chris.. ahhahs.. don't take it to heart yeah! it was really a slip of the tongue.
REALLY.
in response to chris' erm.. remark.. hahahs
no teng, no ting, no whatever. hahahs.. me moving on doesn't mean that i've changed totally. it just means i'm facing up to reality and brushing off the dust, giving myself a new challenge. not to love someone else, but to just be me. (:
yes, i can still say with all my heart mahal kita to mark cos moving on doesn't mean not loving you anymore. it means loving you in other ways, yeap.
ripped this off mengkit's blog, hope you don't mind. (:

[awesome day]
iFREEDOM! at long last. (:
first things first. i haven't updated in an extremely long time so try to bear with me yea.. this blog is also sort of a log. (:
many many thanks to my cell group who decided to crash my house to celebrate my birthday. it was indeed a pleasant surprise. (: and i thought you all forgot.. heehee. i felt like i got punk'd, but in a good way of course. hahahs.. just.. BIG SURPRISE. (: thanks to all who sent me messages and presents and cards. (: thanks thanks thanks! (: it's always nice to know that you're remembered ain't it? (: nice birthday this year. i'm a happy and contented girl. well. only one thing's lacking, but i guess that wish will never come true.. will it? HMMM.
hahahs.. i'm really tempted to write a dear max entry, but i guess not. sometimes things are better kept to yourself than anything else eh? sometimes it doesn't really help clearing the ground. i should just let the mess clutter so it'll pile up and build a protective wall around me. maybe. i need a shield from all these.. sigh.
it's scary, that georgia can actually sense what i'm trying to do. i guess it's pretty obvious i'm trying to pick myself up, dust me off and tell myself everything's alright. but i know it'll never be. things'll never be the same again, no matter how hard i try to convince myself. i guess this is way harder than trying to psycho yourself into believing that studying is fun.
i guess now is like finally allowing someone to rub ointment on your wound, opening yourself to help. it sure is gonna hurt a real deal at first, but hopefully the pain will subside.. soon. i don't think i can take anymore. hahahs.. it's driving me nuts. this pms thing is way irritating.. (:
okay. on a lighter note, today with xintian was simply awesome! hahahs.. it's nice catching up with friends. so i met her at j8 cos she walked over from rj after her papers. (: nice time spent. marc says that we're trying to make up for lost time as twins. hahahs! but it's pretty freaky cos she's quite like me.. as in i just realised today. we can complete each other's sentences and we've got similar tastes in almost anything! it's as if we can read each other's minds. =
so she's coming over on friday again, she's absolutely smitten with my house, i think she secretly wishes to stay here! hahahs.. she was like.. so fascinated. even though she came to my place before.. (:
okay. i need rest. my body's screaming out.
goodnight and adious!
Long at last.
Well, it's quite funny how you yearn for time to pass quickly, especially so when it is during the "mugger toad" season of prelims and tests and what not, and yet we're all too quick to lament on how time flies. As in it really flies by us. So many things to do, so little time.
And so, I decided that it's time to write in this blog once again, this blog that I've so deserted because of several reasons, the main reason being that I was banned from the computer. Time to shake off the dust here and get down to serious writing.
With whatever little time I have, I got down to thinking what needed to be done for the rest of this year. And the list is startlingly long. Goodness gracious me.
-shopping for christmas presents
-making christmas stuff
-clearing my room
-catching up with lotsa neglected friends
-prom
-children's ministry retreat in Batam
-70th anniversary choir
-handbell alumni
-choir alumni
-looking for work
-end of year chalet
That is the list of my activities so far, for the one and a half months left after the major examinations are over.
Time.
We once did an essay that read, "Is there a real need for a 25th hour?" I guess many would answer with a resounding "YES!" but God made one day 24 hours for a reason I'm sure. Even if we had 25-hour days, I'm pretty sure that in no time at all, we will be pressing for a 26th.
Prioritising. That is the key to successful time management, a wonderful life. Unfortunately, I feel that i sorely lack in that aspect.
God help me.
i promised teng i'd post this at the first chance i got:
"I think my name is sexy." -teng jin on spraying his name on his faded ripcurl bottle.
hurrhurr. i've never heard of anything as hilarious as this. (: and he had this funny grin on his face after he said it, as if he was absolutely convinced that what he had just said could never be proven wrong! oh my.
thanks for the card and present sarah. (:
and teng, for the card you made. nice nice. hahahs! i love handmade stuffs. i guess i can sense the effort put in cos i make stuffs too, and so it's sort of an honour accorded to people when i give them handmade stuff! (:
had fun at lunch today, haven't laughed so hard for a long time.. nearly split my sides recalling teng's split shorts at cheerleading practice. (: [gee teng, hope you don't kill me for posting this. (: ] yup.
happy birthday to me tomorrow. (:
