i realised i haven't titled my posts for quite a while... usually i hurriedly type whatever's on my mind and then i'm outta here. but i guess today i have a bit more time. just a teeny weeny bit. (:
so i'm in here solely for one reason.. though there's lots to tell all you people out there what's going on in my life.. but i guess this post would be about yesterday's teachings. heehee. well. i was really blessed by it.
so anyway, dr greg dennyschen was speaking to us last night. initially, i expected like.. him to lead prayer and praise. after all.. it was the first friday of the month, which happens to be prayer and praise for my church. so here we have this south african guy talking to us about the tower of babel, the end times and all. it was mesmerizing. i mean.. whatever he said really made sense. REALLY. and i think he's one of the few speakers that can actually keep the attention of my cell group la. haha. after the teaching session was over, we were still full of questions.. some of which i shall post later. he answered them, in his own humourous way. and i think dr greg is cool because he can really assimilate. which south african pastor you know actually speaks singlish? well, dr greg does. (: and he's funny, to help us understand he uses singapore examples.. like to put across the point of humans loving enjoyment, he says, " just look at how many millions of dollars worth of entertainment have been pumped into sentosa!", and he even brought up PIE, the pan-island expressway. yup. he is wayyyyy cool. (:
so here's some questions wwe asked him.. forgive me if i recall wrongly. but basically this should be it..
dr greg, we know of many people basing their beliefs on science and tech, and that the big bang and evolution are one of the main theories of how we came about. we know it's not true, but how do we speak to our friends about it?well, firstly, i know for sure that the big bang theory is not true. how? because i have not known of any explosion that actually creates anything. explosions only destroy. how can you say that two colliding particles actually created the planet? this just cannot be. just look at the bali bomb blasts. has anything been created? no. but i know that many things have been wrecked and destroyed. families torn apart. debris everywhere. nothing good comes out of an explosion. certainly not creation.
let's talk about something easier. amino acids. they tried to create it by exploding several chemicals together and they did succeed. well. that is with a condition. there must be no oxygen present. since time began, there has always been oxygen. if they cannot even create amino acids, we don't need to go any further. big bang defies the basic laws of physics. the second law of thermodynamics. now, how do you explain that? [smiles]
[note: i recall dennis, our youth pastor preaching on the law. he said, you can disbelieve the law, and say that the law of gravity does not work. go ahead. try walking off 20 the 20th floor of a building and see what happens to you, whether the law of gravity holds true. (: ]
as for evolution, it also cannot be true, for the very simple reason that it is just impossible!
how so? some have said that there may be cross breeding, and what not, mutation of genes, why is it not possible?very simple. pedigrees are always better. every time there is a cross breeding, there is a degeneration of the genes.
the DNA is very specific. scientists needed to stimulate the links with lots of intelligence for it to match up. even so, it is an extremely difficult process. probability, my friend. it is said to be one out of 10 to the power of 347! that's like, 0.00000000.....000001. 347 zeroes. so many stages in evolution. how can it happen on its own? cannot be true
lah.
[chuckles]
then, sir, how about them saying that the earth is approximately 4.6 billion years old?well, you know about moon dust right? so rightfully, by taking the height of the moon dust that falls on the moon daily, multiplied by 365, you get the amount that falls on it a year. and then you mulitply that by 4.6 billion, you get the amount of moon dust there should be if the earth is really 4.6 billion years old. and that gives you about 75 feet. 75 feet of loose dust. so they sent up a guy there to verify if it was really true. and they told him, " be careful to find a piece of hard rock to step on before you exit your space shuttle". so he went there, and he sent back a report. he said, "the moon is hard rock everywhere! calculating the depth of moon dust, the earth should be at most 10,000 years old. not the initially calculated 4.6 billion." there you have it.
you said something about the enemy working really insiduously in all of us. and about the great abyss opening and blinding all of us to the word?yes i did. but i didn't really have time to touch on it, that those with the mark of God would be safe and protected from the evils of what is coming out of the abyss. and how do you know that you have the mark of God? well, your thoughts, words and actions are in accordance with the word. and that God lives in you. make sure that during that time of trial, you do have the mark of God!
yes, satan is working in many ways to hurt and lead the young people astray. remember what satan's aim is? it is to hurt God. as much as possible. greatest damage. why waste time on us old folks? he works at young minds, because he knows that you young people are most precious in God's eyes. you all have lots of potential. use it for the Lord!
you said something about adam and eve in your sermon just now, and about hollywood putting ideas in our heads about courtship. what's that all about?ahh! i knew this would touch your heart the most. [smiles] well, in song of songs, it is said, "do not arouse or awaken love, until it so desires" similarly, you have to wait for God's prompting. in the mean time, don't go looking for love. God will tell you the one that he's going to give you when it is time. and when He does, seek His advice, the advice of those around you, both your parents, and if it really is His will, go and get married. He won't say to you, "there is your spouse i have made ready for you. she's yours.. in 10 years time." no He won'tdo that! God knows only too well the carnal desires of man's heart.
so here is the order:
1. God tells you which one.
2. pray about it, ask Him if it is really Him speaking.
3. consult your pastor, trusted friends that are walking in the Lord.
4. approach her parents.
5. get them to pray with you and seek the Lord for His anwer.
6. if all is well, ask for her hand in marriage. do not take too long, at most 1 year.
[note: at this, my eyes were like.. whoa. i year? isn't that like.. too fast? oh wells. ]
hope this enlightens you a little. (: God bless.
