  to pearl
was just thinking about pearl and her dad, and vj's choir theme song, no man is an island. and how apt it was, that she and her family need not go through it alone. so this song's dedicated to pearl, a very good friend. you are not alone, cos i'm here and i mean it. (:

No man is an island
No man stands alone
Each man's joy is joy to me
Each man's grief is my own
We need one another
So I will defend
Each man as my brother
Each man as my friend

I saw the people gather
I heard the music start
The song that they were singing

Is ringing in my heart

No man is an island
No man stands alone
Each man's joy is joy to me
Each man's grief is my own
We need one another
So I will defend
Each man as my brother
Each man as my friend

No man is an island...
No man... stands... alone

my first thought of the day
OMG it's tomorrow.

today was an alright day, managed to finally grasp how to use that horrid program, PM2S. and jo yi kept coming with urgent assignments. i was like. ARGHARGHARGH.

run to 12th floor.

run to 10th floor.

prepare file for DPE.

apply for no pay leave immediately.

clear all the 30++ PM2S cases.

clear ALL adhoc cases.

answer queries from china people

call applicants shortlisted for interview.

key in data into a spreadsheet NOW NOW NOW.

oh my goodness hahaha and to add on to all these, i was worried sick about nick not turning up for work today without leaving a message. and lynette and eliy were asking me about him too.

thank goodness it's a flu bug, not anything more serious. (:

GET WELL NICK! (:

it's tomorrow. ARGHARGHARGH SAVE ME.

when i blog multiple times in a day, there's only two reasons. one, i'm plain bored. two, i've got something i'm just bursting to share.

was just spending my free time reading the bible, re-capping what went on in follow-up and first steps today. and the freaky / wonderful thing was.. i kept getting verses from random places of comfort, assurance, leaving your worries and anxieties to God. and coincidentally [or not], today's lesson at follow up was on assurance.

God is never silent when you ask, seek and knock.

many thanks to the people who tried so hard to cheer me up at church. (: really appreciate it. i'm feeling better now thank you very much. heeee. sweetheart, let's go to SAC next week shall we? (: thanks yiwen and uthcell and shawn too. -big hugs to all of you- you all brighten up my life in ways you do not know. (:

DID YOU KNOW that lucifer was God's angel of music? he was in charge of the worship and songs in heaven, and because he craved the worship that God had, he rebelled against God. hence he was cast out of heaven. my point? that the music you listen to is important. that is satan's forte - messages through music. if you listen to music with lyrics full of violence, chances are, it is ingrained in your character. changing the music you listen to is one big step in changing your lifestyle, to be more godly. try it!

  my Lord.
sometimes being a christian is just so hard.

i mean, even auntie yinmei, my pastor's wife says that man is born with the innate inclination to be evil, to do the wrong thing. so, why are we trying so hard then? to be constantly "fighting" ourselves, to always be struggling and struggling. and the most depressing thing is that we have to keep at it, till the day we die.

we've got standards to meet. we can't do certain things that other people do. they say, no smoking, no this, no that.

at times i feel like i'm a rubber band, stretched to the limit, and i can just snap anytime.

i, i, i. me. myself.

that's what pride does to you does it not?

then i think about Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

he must have been thinking, why Father? why must i sacrifice myself on the cross, subject myself to such shame and humiliation for people that we created, who turned against us, hurt us time and again, and are mocking me even as i pay for their sins on the cross. they're not even going to appreciate it. but you know what? i'm still going to do it, to fulfill your supreme will. because i'm going to show them how great your love is for them. i'm going to show them the penalty of their sin. i'm going to show them how much sin is an abomination to you. i'm going to show them how much hurt they're inflicting on you.

WOW. how many of us can do that? how many of us can die for our friends, our enemies, people whom we've never met? and this death is not instant, this is the cruelest way in which a person can die.

a group of people once said, why should we recognise jesus as the son of man! he does not know what it is like to really be a man.
he doesn't know what it is like to be mocked by the people he loved most, to be cut of from the people he cherish.
he doesn't know what it is like to be dying in the worst form, in shame and drowning in mockery
he doesn't know what it is like to be humiliated.
he doesn't know what it is like to be tempted.
he doesn't know what it is like to be persecuted.
he doesn't know what it is like to be stressed to the point of near insanity.
he doesn't know the pain of this world.

but you know what. Jesus knows. He was tempted by the devil, His own people did not recognise Him, before He was arrested He bled through His skin due to extreme stress. He was stripped naked and the soldiers cast lots for His clothes. He was made to walk through the streets in His undergarments, carrying a huge wooden cross, the means in which He'll die. He died in the worst possible way, on the cross.

My Jesus knows the suffering we go through and He paid the price for us. now won't you accept Him as your friend, your Lord and your Saviour?

  some take away lessons. (:
the greatest crime in the dessert is finding water and keeping silent about it.
-an arabian proverb-

the greatest crime in God's Kingdom is hearing the Gospel and keeping silent about it.
-auntie yinmei-

on a seperate occasion, one of the church members, James Goon, was talking to a Hindu principal.

James: What is it about Christians that irk you the most?
Principal: You Christians keep going around telling and preaching about your faith. Come on la. You don't hear us Hindus going on and on about our Gods right?
James: We teach our children to obey the laws of the country. By not doing so, they're good citizens or bad citizens?
Principal: Bad citizens of course.
James: So God, our King, commands us christians to spread the good news. It is His law to us. By disobeying Him, are we good christians or bad christians?
Principal: Mmm. I see your point.

Yet another church member, Andrew Wee was speaking to a muslim friend..

Andrew: So. Who is Jesus?
Friend: He is a prophet.
Andrew: I believe He is a prophet too. But He is also the Son of God, Most High!
Friend: No he is not.
Andrew: Tell me. Do prophets lie?
Friend: No they do not, they are holy people chosen by God. They only speak the truth.
Andrew: So if you say that prophets only speak the truth, and Jesus said He is the Son of God, why do you not believe Him then?

think about it. (:

DADDY BOUGHT ME A NEW DEVOTIONAL BOOK TODAY! haha! YAYNESS. thanks daddy (:

so anyhow work today wasn't all that good. cos jo yi told me that i need not come next week. and that sort of cast a gloomy net over my day. was really silent after that, trying to busy myself with work, but inside, i was asking God WHY?! Help me to see Your will and good in all this. and He really did open my eyes. and i was like.. alright God. you're supreme. even if it means being jobless for one week, i know that your plans are far greater than mine. so i accepted it. and then jo yi was like.. i was thinking about it, maybe it's not such a good idea you take the whole week off. maybe you jesline and yvette can take turns. but i kinda was okay with the one week off thing. perhaps i needed that break too. so you see, He's supreme in everything (:

so although i didn't receive the greatest news, it made me turn back to God and rely on His strength to accept it, so i'm thankful for that.

so anyhow, i was really excited at the new devotional book [as with anything new, really. =] and i wanted to see what today's topic was about. and it's about sharing and praying for your non-christian friends. and then i re-called the lunchtime conversation i had with nick about teng and i was like.. WOW.

see i told you God RAWKS. (:

  unexpected happiness
valentine's day. a day that i expected to be of gloom and doom for singles like me. haha.. but thanks to dear friends, it wasn't so. (:

so i had a wonderful day today in office, not so crazy, had fun with jesline and yvette [better write nice stuff since they read my blog] heehee. and i got interogated over lunch about mark tan. oh wells. it's all in the past so i'm fine with it. (:

then went with yvette to fix her phone, and she was so nice to spend dinner with me. heehee. i bought her a flower and she bought me one too, so we'd not be the only girls without flowers on v'day. heehee. oh did i say that yun pangseh-ed me for dinner?! ah wells but it's alright la. i'm fine either way. went to the library after dinner, borrowed 3 books (: nice nice nice.

then went out with yun and sue-anne and jeremy ho and mel. haha went to tcc for the first time, and we had lotsa laughs there [sue-anne and that guy] and then mel had to leave. so the four of us went to get a pack of cards and we settled in at cineleisure to play cards. bridge (: and me and jeremy thrashed yun and sue-anne 12 sets to 1. (: WOOOOOOO (:

anyhow i had tremendous fun, writing everything here would take pages. so anyhow i enjoyed today. yay yay yay.

God please give nick the job, in Jesus' name i pray, amen.

tuesdays with morrie by mitch albom
Yet here was Morrie talking with the same wonder of our college years, as if I'd simply been on a long vacation.

"Have you found someone to share your heart with?" he asked.

"Are you giving to your community?

"Are you at peace with yourself?

"Are you trying to be as human as you can be?"

------

"Have I told you about the tension of opposites?" he says.

The tension of opposites?

"Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when you know that you should never take anything for granted.

"A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. And most of us live somewhere in the middle."

Sounds like a wrestling match, I say.

"A wrestling match." He laughs. "Yes, you could describe life that way."

So which side wins, I ask?

"Which side wins?"

He smiles at me, the crinkled eyes, the crooked teeth.

"Love wins. Love always wins."

-------

beautiful book this is. (: only into the opening chapters and i'm already learning so much. this is most certainly a must read.

  to a particular someone
hey there,

i know this isn't exactly the best time in your life right now, in fact i guess you're feeling down in the pits. there's probably lots of questions in your head right now, lots of whys, some we can answer for ourselves, others we just never know. but no matter what it is, remember what i told you last night. no matter what the outcome is, God has great plans for you in mind. sometimes we may be so fixated on a particular goal. perhaps, you may take this as God's indication, a very firm one indeed, that He wants you to take another path, another route where you'll shine best for Him. our ultimate task here on earth is to be His testimony, His salt and light in this dark, cruel and ugly world. so take heart, all is not lost. we'll always be here for you, and you know that you can count on that. (:

well i'm not saying you're supposed to be all jolly about it. no if you're disappointed, sad, just let it out. you'll feel much better after that. trust me. i know. perhaps i've not gone through what you're going through now. perhaps i do not know what it is like to be in your shoes right now. but this i do know - that He will never NEVER leave us nor forsake us. remember the story about footprints in the sand? yeah that's it. when you're struggling, God is gracious. learn to fall back on Him always and He will bless you abundantly, beyond what you can imagine.

  itchy witchy
help i'm covered with mosquito bites even though i see no mosquitoes. and jesline is getting the same feeling too.

God, please make all the mosquitoes drop dead or something. PLEASE.

and i can't sit with my cell for my church's 70th anniversary dinner. ))))))): WHY WHY WHY! sigh. i always get pushed out. CHRIS ARE YOU READING THIS?

on a lighter note, i had a nice time reading the book that i'm doing for qt, called A Young Woman After God's Own Heart. today was a whole chapter on prayer, that prayer doesn't only change THINGS. prayer can change LIVES too. isn't that wonderful? but first, we must make a stand that we really want to lead a prayerful life, cos it's just like what vicar said on sunday : promises are always there and will remaing there at arms length, unreachable by us unless we put in the effort to claim it.

AMEN. Lord, i'd like that! (:

oh man i feel so stupid.

i'm working at moe and i have no clue whatsoever as to when the results are going to be released. so i'm getting the jitters like.. ALL THE TIME. ARGH ARGH ARGH.

please wake me up i'm feeling oh so
l e t h a r g i c . . .

  reflection
was at the beach today, and yun and sherm needed to get something, so i was sitting there by myself just relaxing and watching over our belongings. and it was a nice time of quiet reflection, and there was this girl writing stuff on the wet sand by the waves. and sometimes the words she wrote on the sand got washed and wiped clean by the waves. somehow it just reminds me of Christ. no matter what we have done, whatever wrongdoings is like what we write on the sand. and Christ, the mighty wave would wash away all our sins and wipe the slate clean. isn't that wonderful! (:

had a nice talk with yun, and it's scary how money can make you lose your head sometimes, how money can make you turn against the people closest to you. money can make people become hypocritical. that's why i'm ever so afraid to hold back money. Lord, never ever make me stingy, and never allow money to drive a wedge between me and those closest to me.

sorry to put you in such a spot jon. ):

i admit that i'm a rather stubborn, headstrong person. and i'm trying to change. i really am. so today was quite a remarkable time for me when my dad's side came over, cos i pushed aside whatever negative thoughts i used to have about any member of the family, and it really helped in me being more approachable. haha. i think i've changed some, those closest to me can attest to that. i was really naughty when i was young. HAHAHAHA. (:

thank you Lord for all that you have done and for all you're going to do.

  opened doors
HO HO HO. my friend's gonna be involved in the organising of rugby sevens. ain't that just so cool! haha so hopefully i get good tickets.

RUGBY SEVENS, HERE I COME!

it never is easy when we try to learn and correct our mistakes. i have a very bad habit of being very very blunt and straightforward. and now, i'm trying to learn how to curb that bad habit. but choosing that path is just so trying, to the extent i sometimes have to bite my tongue to keep my mouth shut. the bible says our tongue is like a double-edged sword that can be used to encourage or to destroy. of course i'd so much hope that mine would be one that would do the former, but i need to learn to discipline myself first.

sometimes i just feel the urge to lash out.

oh but if you find me unusually quiet and perhaps with a constipated look on my face as if i want to say something but am holding back, please help me. haha. do not, i stress, DO NOT undermine my efforts to be good. (: it may be ugly.

hurrhurr okay i'm exagerating. but just a piece of friendly advice that you'd be wise to heed. heee! (:
